Hi, friends!! Hope you are all doing well and still surviving quarantine š This whole thing has lasted so much longer than I could have ever anticipated. Who imagined we’d all be stuck at home on Easter?! Such a strange time! I feel like it’s really easy to be sad about spending this holiday stuck inside. Easter is usually such a time of hope and sunshine! I know I always love being at church on Easter Sunday because everyone is there, and it’s just so exciting. So if you’re feeling a little bit blue this week thinking about the way you’d usually spend this holiday, I’m right there with you. But I don’t want to waste the day longing for something else! So I’ve made a little list of some ways you could still make this Easter feel special.
decorate your house
This is always number one on my list to get into the holiday spirit. We have all of our pastels, bunnies, eggs, and flowers out right now! It’s also a great transition into spring.
eat a fun breakfast
I love this idea. My house doesn’t make special breakfasts super often, just because of our weekly routines! This would just add to the special feeling of the day!
Here are some fun breakfast ideas:
– Egg Bake Casserole (we’re making one similar to this!)
– Baked Stuffed French Toast
– Crepes with fun toppings
– Healthy Yogurt Pancakes (one of my fam’s faves)
dress up and take pictures
This was my sister’s idea!! We always love taking pictures on Easter… it’s often one of our first sunny, warm weekends in Pittsburgh! I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t worn makeup or even jeans in the last many weeks, so this is actually appealing to me right now!!
color eggs
I still love coloring eggs!!

have dedicated church time
I think the biggest change for a lot of us this year will be not going to church! My family will be watching our service online. My suggestion would be to find a service you’re interested in that has an online option for Easter! You could also add a fun family devotional or something else to further celebrate the day. If you’re looking for an online service and don’t know where to start, this is the link to my church!
put together easter baskets or an egg hunt
I’m the youngest in my family (I’m 19), and we still wake up on Easter each year and do an egg hunt and search for our baskets! My mom is just the greatest at these types of fun, creative things. We still continue this even though we’re all adults, lol. I just love the traditional/activity aspect of this! It makes the day feel special and fun. My family also has a tradition of launching the eggs we’ve dyed in a slingshot competition. It’s silly and exciting and we love the tradition!
The baskets could be as simple as a few bags of candy, or as fun as you want them to be! Here are some easy ideas:
– books
– games
– flip flops
– sunglasses
– chocolate
– jewelry
– bathing suits
– self-care items
have a virtual meal with family
My family is a little bit all over the place, so I think we might do this on Easter! I picture us sitting down for dinner with someone’s laptop propped up so we feel like we’re all together. Could be fun!!
What will you be doing to celebrate this Easter?
xoxo
