As today is the last day of 2019, it feels appropriate to share this post to finish up the year! It’s absolutely crazy to me how quickly another year has passed. I think they just keep going faster as I get older. In the past, I haven’t done much to reflect on time when we begin a new year. I tend to come up with a few things I’d like to change for the next year, but I’m not even sure that I have written them down, let alone really solidified them as “goals.”
Because I now have a place to share my goals & keep myself accountable, I’m pretty excited to create them and make a true effort to stick to them! But before I can really recognize what I want to change, I wanted to go through memories and things from this year. I want to encourage you all to do the same, since reflecting has been such an interesting / comforting experience for me these last few days.
It didn’t occur to me how much I’d done in the last 12 months until this week. Even more so, in the past two years, my life has seen some real change! I feel like we all owe it to ourselves to set aside some time to consider how we have changed, what we have accomplished, and where we have come.
In the last year, I vacationed in a foreign country, started my blog, finished my first semester of college, moved into my first apartment, and took a trip across the country. I also saw SIX important people in my life get engaged to their loves and said goodbye to my two sweet doggies. 2019 was full of change to for me. I have come a long way in a lot of personal matters and still have so much farther I want to go in the years to come.
I hope this inspires you to take a few minutes to consider what you went through in 2019! I looked through my camera roll starting in January to remind myself of what I did, lol!
These are some of the questions/thoughts I went through to have a comprehensive reflection of 2019. After all, it was a whole year of our lives and deserves a minute of consideration!
- favorite moments of this year
- what went well this year?
- what didn’t go well this year?
- what did I learn/biggest lesson?
- what do I want to do differently in the new year?
- when did I feel most exhausted and drained this year?
- when did I feel most in my element this year?
- what am I most proud of from this year?
- what day would I want to live again?
- what advice do I want to give myself?
- what helped me stay close to God this year?
- big accomplishments
- big disappointments
- major life changes
- biggest obstacles
- best moments and memories
- things I want to purge
- what am I most excited about for 2020?
Let me know what you’re happy to be reflecting on in 2019! Here’s to the start of a new decade!
