Helllllllo friends! Another spring cleaning post coming at ya today. This time we’re taking over my vanity. Keep reading to see my drawers go from meh to YAY!
My process for these drawers isn’t anything too special. I simply…
1. take out all the products
2. check for expiration dates or empty containers and get ride of those
3. get rid of anything that I never use/don’t love
4. fit organizers into drawer
5. organize items into sections
This feels like a dream (haha dramatic much?) because I finallyyyyy figured out a set of organizers that fit like a perfect puzzle in these drawers. It’s a combo of bins from Target and the Container Store. I’ll link them a little below.
Once I had every container in place, I used little sticky squares I got from Amazon to make them stay in their spots. My items would usually slide around when I pull the drawers open, but this totally solved that issue!!
So let me give you a little tour of how I organized my vanity drawers! 🙂
This drawer is the only one that lives in my bathroom, not my vanity. But it needed a makeover, so I just added it in! Previously, all these items lived in two large bins. Now I have them separated into several areas!
Lately I have become mildly OBSESSED with skincare. My skin has always been fairly oily, but in the past year I have become super dry. And I don’t even know how to handle that! So my skincare collection has grown recently in the hopes that I can figure out how to not look chapped all day everyday. I organized into the following categories (left to right): lip exfoliators and masks; two misc. face masks; exfoliators; more misc. face masks; eye creams; hydrating masks. Now everything is where it belongs and that makes me SMILE!!
This drawer has all my eye products. I have issues with this drawer because I honestly just dislike it. I never do much of anything with my brows, I pretty much wear one of the same two mascaras every day, and I really only use eyeshadows that are in palettes (which live in a separate drawer). SO this drawer just always feels cluttered and random. I got rid a TON of old mascaras and eyeliners and a few eyeshadow singles. And then I organized into smaller sections. Things are looking better here!!
Anyone else feel like palettes are the hardest thing to store? I have forever had them in little stacks, but then I forget what’s below the top ones and I get in a rut. Last summer, I found these little organizers that are made for palettes. They’re sorta like letter organizers, but the height stays the same. A lot of my palettes fit standing up in them in my drawers. I put the taller ones in a pile in the back (ugh! not sure what else do).
Fortunately (or unfortunately), my face drawer was already pretty organized. I also use most of the items in here. So I just took a few things out that were not essential to me and then I tidied up!
Mmmm. I love the contour section. The sad thing is that these products seriously vary in size and shape, so it’s hard to organize in bins and such. I use another palette organizer here. Two more palettes sit behind because they’re too tall for my drawer. Then I have highlighters in the front bin and bronzers/blush in the back!
This hair product drawer sometimes feels like the death of me!!! I like to stock up on hairspray and dry shampoo. But man! They take up some space!! I also tend to start a bottle of something and then open another without realizing. So I ended up putting an organizer in on the right just to remind myself which bottles are already open and in use!
And that’s it for my vanity!! Take this as inspiration and go hit your makeup drawers! It’ll make you feel quite refreshed.
