Happy Friday!! In 2017, my family and I traveled around to several cities in Italy. We only had one day in Florence, but we still managed to get a full feel of the city! I put this guide together to show you all what should be at the top of your bucket list for a trip to Florence, even if you only have one day! Yay!
8:00 am – Wake up at Hotel Pendini and have breakfast
My family stayed at Hotel Pendini and absolutely adored it! We don’t typically stay in boutique hotels, but this one was seriously mesmerizing. It had the cutest rooms and the sweetest style. If you stay there, you should definitely take advantage of the breakfast. So good and pretty, too!! This picture was taken outside of the hotel.
9:00 am – Check out David at Galleria dell’Accademia
We didn’t make this a priority when we visited, but if I go back to Florence, this is at the top of my list! Buy tickets in advance so you can ditch the lines!
10:30 am – Visit the Duamo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore) and its surroundings
The Cathedral is so much larger than I could’ve tried to imagine! And it was completed in 1434. Insane!! We loved just roaming around and enjoying the Italian culture. You could also decide to tour the inside!
12:00 pm – Lunch
There are also some cute shops to venture into right around the Duamo. Take a look at a few and grab some food! I’d recommend pizza and gelato (of course).
1:30 pm – Walk across Ponte Vecchio
Pictures of the bridge don’t do it justice! I felt like some of the best moments in Florence were just laid back – and this fit right in! We strolled up and down, taking in the sights and window shopping the TONS of jewelry stores. Seriously so beautiful.
5:00 pm – Piazzale Michelangelo
Ah! I wanted to do this so badly, but we didn’t have enough time when we visited. If you can time your day well, go here when the sun is setting and see an amazing, panoramic view of Florence!
6:00 pm – Walk to dinner
The walk from Hotel Pendini to Buca Mario is only about five minutes, but it’s definitely possible to make it longer. The streets are lined with shops (both boutiques and high-end chains), so it’s totally worth shopping around. We walked into the cutest little shop with the sweetest Italian man selling his freshly homemade noodles. Omg. It was so lovely. We wanted to buy everything!! I really wished I could speak Italian in that moment.
7:00 pm – Dinner
For dinner, you absolutely have to go to Buca Mario. And you have to order the gnocchi. And you have to stay for dessert. This was the best meal we had in all of Italy. I can’t recommend it more!!! My mouth is watering a little right now.
Hopefully this guide is helpful if you get a chance to see the beautiful city of Florence. It was definitely at the top of my bucket list and should totally be on yours too! 🙂 Happy travels!!!
